Happy 2026,
New Years is a time that everyone talks about goals, development, focusing on coming year. While I agree it's a great time to reset a lot of things, I believe that we should be talking goals more regularly - breaking down our annual goals into quarterly, monthly, weekly and even daily. Maybe it's the way my brain is wired, but I tend to reverse engineer my goals - where do I want to be at the end of the year, what do I need to accomplish each quarter to get there, break that down into monthly, and then even more into your weekly and daily goals. Those goals stay in front of me daily and I have reminders (or accountability partners) to check in on these goals monthly / quarterly.
So, as we enter the new year, dare to dream big, set some big goals, and then reverse engineer them into your monthly, daily, weekly goals and get to work! Remember, if you dream big and hit 80% of your goal, that's still a great accomplish. A goal is not a pass/fail test, but it's just a target to hit, and if set a big goal and get close, then we really accomplished our mission to continue to develop and get better...
So, as with anything we are searching for - a new product to develop, a team at work, a new family goal, or a personal goal...
